Buena Park, Orange County
Buena Park was founded in 1887 by James Whitaker, a Chicago grocer who had planned to raise cattle here, and it incorporated in 1953. A house built by the Whitaker family still stands as a museum. The stretch of Beach Boulevard near the amusement park has become an entertainment district, lined with dinner theaters where audiences watch jousting knights and pirate battles.
